Beginners Sewing Workshop

Finally, it is here! One of our incredible local cosplayers, The Colour of Duct Tape, will be hosting an informative, follow-along workshop to hone your sewing skills!
This session will teach you how to sew a bodice/waistcoat, and in doing so will cover multiple aspects of sewing, such as:
Cutting orientation (crosswise-grain vs lengthwise-grain)
Matching designs on fabric
Pile and Nap
Fitting during construction
Pre-washing fabric (will be discussed, not demonstrated)
Sewing machine feet
Bottom feeding system
Different stitch settings available
Notching and Nipping
At the end of the session, you will hopefully have a wearable, functional piece of clothing! All genders can apply, as the pattern will be tailored to your specifications. You will be making a waistcoat for this session!
You will be required to bring along:
A sewing machine
Choice of outer fabric (1000mmx1500mm, taffeta/brocade recommended)
The following will be provided at the event:
Pattern printed to size
Additional fabric selection
You will be required to provide bust and waist measurements prior to the event. The price is R60 pp! Limited spots available
This event is by RSVP only, so please email email@example.com ASAP to confirm your place and be put on the list.
Our heartfelt thanks to CLAWS UCT and the DragonFire Committee for co-hosting this event with us.
