Hakama Sewing Workshop by The Colour of Duct Tape
September 7 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Expanding on the success of previous workshops, we are hosting yet another this year! It’s perfect for all skill ranges, so beginners are welcome! Learn how to make a hakama, traditional Japanese pants that you’ve seen in just about any anime (and plenty of games too) ! (Think Goku, meiko, Bleach, Inuyasha… They’re also commonly worn in martial arts, during Japanese sport events and over kimono/gi)
As with previous workshops, you will need to buy your own fabric. We recommend cotton, Poplin, or anything that holds a pleat/crease well.
Hip size 79 – 83cm : 3m x 1.5m
Hip size 84+cm : 3.5m x 1.5m
What else to bring:
Sewing machine (talk to us if this is an issue and we will see what we can do!)
Thread and bobbin
Snacks for break time.
Interfacing will be provided.
This time we will be providing the pattern beforehand to those who RSVP, and you will need to cut the fabric accordingly before joining us. This part is simple though, so don’t worry 🙂
Everything else will be done at the workshop, with lots of tips from the fantastic seamstress, The Colour of Duct Tape.
To RSVP, please send an email to email@example.com with ‘Hakama workshop‘ in the title. Please include your waist and hip measurements in cm.
The venue will be confirmed closer to the time, but it will be at UCT.
